Theme 3 : Distributed RADAR Systems

Using radio waves for identifying and locating flying aircrafts, popularly known by the acronym 'RADAR', has always been a fascinating research area since years. Adopting methods and procedures from communication and signal processing for such tasks has opened up new directions to explore in this field. In our group, we are developing computationally less intensive, efficient algorithms for target detection, localization and tracking of targets via a multistatic approach, utilizing techniques from signal processing. In our approaches we consider high flying targets as well as low flying drones. We are also looking at stealth targets of lower Radar Cross Section (RCS) and highly manoeuvring targets in whose cases most of the parametric models fail. Our localization approaches are able to accurately determine targets’ position in three-dimensional space and track them as well.
