This research focuses on developing high quality implementations of signal processing systems. The main targets are error-correcting codes, as they require high throughput and have fair amounts of computational complexity, but also involve quite a lot of bit-level manipulation.
Some of the designs that have been done here in the digital systems lab include Viterbi decoders, Turbo decoders, LDPC decoders, and a channel-emulator for wireless communication systems. Most of these were implemented as MTech projects.
