The aim of the project was to develop expertise in the design of analog and mixed mode ASICs especially. Design of a voltage reference circuit with 10 PPM temperature coefficient was done and the fabrication was successfully carried out in coordination with BEL, Bangalore. In addition, an analog array was also designed and fabricated. Various test structures were designed for extracting Gummal-Pool parameters as well as a few process parameters. A probe station to measure the parameters at various temperatures ranging from liquid nitrogen temperature to 120°C was designed and built by us.
Several design tools such as symbolic simulators, optimizers and device level place-and-route tools were also developed for analog CMOS circuits. The optimizer & the placement tools are versatile, the simulator has a limited scope and the router caters to two layers (Poly and Metal). We have also developed expertise in the mixed mode circuit design with the successful completion of sigma-delta converters and phase locked loop design.
