Workshop — July 2026

RF & Communications Perspectives on Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces

23–24 July 2026  ·  9:30 AM – 5:30 PM daily ESB 242, IIT Madras, Chennai
Registrations are now closed.

Connecting India's RIS research community — across RF, communications, industry, and standards

This two-day intensive workshop, organised by WiSeR — the Centre for Advanced Wireless Systems & Sensing Research at IIT Madras — brings together researchers, professors, students, industry professionals, and government engineers working on Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) in India.

The central goal is to foster collaboration across the RIS research landscape and build awareness of its many facets — from the physics and hardware of RF design, to communications theory, to emerging industry deployments and evolving standards. Talks by leading Indian researchers will help participants appreciate the full breadth of open challenges and connect with others working across these dimensions.

Talk formats

  • Long talks (~90 min) covering concepts at tutorial depth
  • Shorter talks (~45 min) on important research directions
  • Speakers from leading Indian academic institutions
  • Event is fully in-person with no online streaming

Logistics & support

  • Lunch and tea/coffee provided on both days
  • IEEE Antennas & Propagation Society, Madras Chapter will sponsor registration for up to 10 full-time PhD students enrolled in Engineering institutes in Tamil Nadu (on a reimbursement basis)
