• Communication over AWGN Channels:

• Common signal constellations
• Probability of error
• Comparison of modulation schemes, channel capacity
• Communication over Band-limited Channels:
• Ideal band-limited channel model
• Pulse-shaping and Nyquist criterion
• Maximum possible symbol rate for zero ISI
• Arbitrary band-limited channel model
• Sufficient statistics
• ML sequence detection
• Linear equalization
• Decision feedback equalization
• Capacity of ISI channels, water-filling and OFDM
