Welcome to Image Processing and Computer Vision lab
Image processing concerns image properties and image-to-image transformations, whereas the main target of computer vision is the 3-D world. As most computer vision algorithms require some form of image processing, the overlap between the two areas is significant. The contours of the two also blend into those of robotics, signal processing, pattern recognition, control theory, artificial intelligence and other fields. The Image Processing and Computer Vision (IPCV) Lab which is housed in Room ESB 320 in the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Madras was founded in 2001. It is a part of The Telecommunications and Computer Networks (TeNet) group with primary focus on image processing and computer vision. The lab currently has 13 working members and very good computational facilities. The members actively publish their works in international journals. The lab also has excellent industrial collaborations.
